Hanging and Crane Scales
Adam Equipment's robust hanging and crane scales feature a large rotating steel hook and shackle with a safety catch, providing the strength and flexibility needed for weighing suspended loads. Standard remote control operation allows the crane scales to be operated from a distance, while readings are shown on an easy-to-view display. Sturdy construction stands up to demanding use in many settings, allowing Adam's hanging scales to be used in a variety of industrial environments.

What is a Hanging Scale?
A hanging scale is a type of weighing scale that is used to lift subjects, often by a crane, in order to measure mass. Industrial hanging scales are some of the most heavy duty and robust weighing instruments available and have been specifically designed for use in factories, warehouses, shipyards and construction environments.
What is a Hanging Scale Used For?
Industrial hanging scales are used to safely weigh extremely heavy subjects, which in the case of our own IHS Crane Scale, could be up to 10000kg. This could be anything from crates, heavy duty machinery, freight containers or manufacturing materials. Since hanging scales use a lifting mechanism to weigh, they are often used for weighing awkward shaped subjects that might be difficult and unsafe to weigh on a pallet or platform scale.
As well as weighing, they are often used to transport goods to and from somewhere such as a boat or truck, making them popular choices for weighing commercial fishing nets, large construction materials such as girders, or cargo.
How Do You Use a Hanging Scale?
Begin by thoroughly checking all of your equipment (hanging scales, cranes, chains or ropes), and ensure that your scale’s maximum capacity is enough to weigh your subject. Make sure the subject is on a flat surface and away from any objects that might get in the way, taking time to consider where the subject will be once lifted into the air. Most accidents occur when a load is caught on something in the weighing environment, the maximum capacity of the scale has been breached, or through faulty machinery.
Next, use the suspension hook on the industrial hanging scale and attach securely to the subject and the crane. Stand well back and begin the lifting process – at no point should you go near or under the subject whilst being lifted. Check the weight reading using the large swivel display. When done, drop the subject back to the ground gently, taking caution that awkward objects may still move or roll when on the ground.
