What is a Weight Indicator?
A weight indicator is a device designed to be compatible with a number of platforms to display the weight of an object. It allows the user to mix-and-match indicators with the same platform, depending on which features, functions, readability and capacity they need.
How Do Weight Indicators Work?
Weight indicators are paired up with a platform and connected via wires to the platform's load cell and RS-232 interface. Through its connection to the load cell, the weight indicator has the ability to detect the weight of any object, while the RS-232 interface allows for communication back to the platform in order to perform applications such as checkweighing.
Why Might One Use a Weight Indicator?
Because weight indicators are connected to the platform scale through wires only, they are free to be moved within the range of the wires, making them highly portable and convenient. They are also interchangeable, one weight indicator can pair with multiple platforms, while one platform can pair with multiple weight indicators. This makes weight indicators highly versatile.
